UMNO Welfare Bureau Gives Aid To 600 People In Negeri Sembilan





SEREMBAN, May 29 (Bernama) -- About 600 people comprising school children, single mothers and the poor today received aid via the 'UMNO Bantu Rakyat ' programme in Negeri Sembilan.

UMNO Welfare Bureau chairman Datuk Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said the aid were in the form of essential goods, Tabung Haji and Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN-i) accounts.

Since its launch on May 19, we have toured eight states. After this, we will tour Johor, Pahang and Terengganu under the first phase which covers 21 locations.

"For the second phase, we will tour 50 locations to get close to the rural and urban population," he said at the launch of the 'UMNO Bantu Rakyat' programme, here today.

Shamsul, who is also Umno Supreme Council member, said helping the people is not an issue for UMNO since party has long been devoted to the community.

"The aid comes in material form, regardless of race. This programme is the idea of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who wants UMNO to meet the people and continue to help them."

At the ceremony, 100 year one students opened SSPN-i accounts and 100 year four, five and six students opened Tabung Haji accounts.

A total of 100 orphans received cash aid, 100 single mothers received basic neccessities and cash and 200 poor folks received basic necessities and cash.
