Two New Faces Appointed In Perlis Exco Line Up

KANGAR, June 1 (Bernama) -- Two new faces were appointed as state executive councillors in a minor Perlis state government reshuffle.

Nurulhisham Yaakob and Asmaiza Ahmad who were appointed on May 12, take over the roles of two senior Exco members.

Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man said Nurulhisham who is also Simpang Empat state assemblyman and Asmaiza who is Chuping state assemblyman will take over from Jafperi Othman (Public Utilities and Infrastructure, Rural Development and Poverty Eradication and Health) and Datuk Sabry Ahmad (Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism; Regional, Corridor, New Growth Areas and New Townships Development) respectively.

"The portfolios of six other Exco members will be retained and there is no change in their portfolio," he told reporters after witnessing the swearing-in ceremony of 11 Kangar Municipal Council (MPK) members at Dewan Mesra MPK here today.

Azlan said 11 of the 24 local councillors had been reappointed for another year effective today, while the remaining 13 MPK council members are still under the screening process.

"I have not received acknowledgement from the relevant parties such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Royal Malaysian Police, National Anti-Drug Agency and the Insolvency Department. Hence, I can not approve their appointment yet," he said.
