Muhyiddin Admits PPBM Members Leaving Party In Numbers

BALIK PULAU, June 1 (Bernama) -- Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today admitted that the party was experiencing a situation whereby members were jumping ship, specifically in Perak, because some are unhappy at the decision of the leadership.

Muhyiddin said he was still waiting for the actual figure of members who left the party in Perak.

"I already know who is instigating members to leave en masse following the appointment of the Perak PPBM chief," he told reporters after a breaking of fast programme with the PPBM president here today.

In a report last month, more than 1,000 members of Perak PPBM headed by Ipoh Timor PPBM division pro tem chief Azrul Suhadi Ahmad Mokhtar and Teluk Intan PPBM division pro tem chief Jemaat Yaacob declared they were leaving the party with immediate effect following Muhyiddin's failure to resolve the party's internal conflict at the federal and state levels despite being given a week to do so.

Muhyiddin said the decision to appoint party chiefs at state levels was made after discussions with party leaders.
