PAS Sarawak To Make Announcement On Pujut By Election Next Week
MIRI, June 14 (Bernama) -- Sarawak PAS is yet to decide whether to field its candidate for the coming Pujut by-election scheduled to be held on July 4.
PAS Sarawak commissioner Jofri Jaraiee said the party would make the announcement next week after the Kuching High Court decides on June 19 the originating summon filed by former Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon to challenge his disqualification.
"Many factors will be taken into account including our preparation for the 14th General Election (GE14) that is expected to be held this year before a final decision can be made, we must prepared for GE14 also," he told Bernama here today.
Meanwhile DAP Sarawak is expected to name its candidate for the by-election on Friday with the party secretary, who also former Piasau assemblyman Alan Ling Sie Kiong, likely to be nominated.
In 2016 state election, DAP's Dr Ting won the Pujut seat with a majority vote of 1,759 defeating Barisan Nasional (BN) direct candidate Datuk Hii King Chiong, PAS' Jofri and independent candidate Fong Pau Teck
