200 PPBM Members In Melaka Say "Sayonara" To Party

ALOR GAJAH, June 16 (Bernama) -- Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) saw 200 of its members in Melaka saying "sayonara" to the party today.

The fledgling party's former coordinator for its Youth wing in Melaka, Mohd Hazif Iskandar Mohd Jamil, 32, said he and the other members took the decision to quit and be with UMNO and the Barisan Nasional because they saw PPBM was "going nowhere".

"We are doing this voluntarily and not pressured by anyone because we want to join back the real struggle after almost a year of going against the tide," he told reporters after attending a Ramadan function organised by Masjid Tanah UMNO here.

Mohd Hazif said that they preferred UMNO because it championed the people's welfare.

He added that PPBM leaders did not bother about the welfare of the members and were only interested in using them, especially the youths, for their own ends.

Meanwhile, UMNO executive secretary Datuk Ab Rauf Yusoh, who is also Masjid Tanah UMNO head, said they made the right decision and urged other PPBM members to also leave the "sinking ship".
