MIC Monitors Candidates Shortlisted For GE14
KULIM (Kedah), July 11 ( Bernama) --The MIC is monitoring shortlisted potential candidates in preparation for the next general election, said party president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.
He said the monitoring encompassed evaluating the performance of the candidates and determining whether they were acceptable to their constituents.
"Although we have identified the potential candidates, it does not mean that we cannot change the candidates if their performance comes under question.
"If they are able to win over the people, it is a positive sign that the MIC will be able to win at least six parliamentary seats (in the 14th general election)," he said at a meet-the-people session organised by the Kulim Bandar Baharu MIC last night that was opened by Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.
Subramaniam, who is the Health Minister, said he was convinced the MIC would be able to win six parliamentary and 13 state seats in the 14th general election, which becomes due in June next year.
In the 13th general election, held in 2013, the party won four of the nine parliamentary seats and five of the 18 state seats it contested.
