PAS Has Own Policy On Candidates' Placement - Ahmad
KOTA BHARU, July 26 (Bernama) -- PAS's decision to field a candidate in any of the constituency in the 14th General Election (PRU13) may lead to a three-cornered fight but the action is not against the opposition pact, PAS Deputy Mursyidul Am (Spiritual Leader) Datuk Ahmad Yakob said.
He said PAS had its own consideration in fielding its candidates to contest, said Ahmad, who is also Kelantan Menteri Besar.
"We are not fighting the opposition but we have our own policy. We place the candidates in accordance with the party's decision and the decisions made are not intended to belittle any party," he told reporters after the 2040 Kelantan Structure Plan Review Examination Report Draft, Publicity and Public Participation launching ceremony at the Kota Darul Naim Complex here today.
Ahmad was commenting on the statement by DAP Publicity Secretary Tony Pua who was upset by PAS's intention to place candidates in the opposition stronghold including against the DAP.
Pua claimed the move clearly showed that PAS wanted to defeat the opposition pact in the coming general election so that UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would remain prime minister.
Ahmad also challenged DAP to place all their candidates to contest in all seats in the state.
"DAP can place all their candidates in Kelantan as well, if they want to," he said.
