Perlis MCA Submits Three Names As Possible Candidates For Indera Kayangan State Seat




PADANG BESAR, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- Perlis MCA has unanimously nominated three names as candidates for the Indera Kayangan state assembly seats in the coming 14th General Election.

Its vice-chairman Khaw Hock Kong said the three names were of people whom the party was confident could regain the state seat which fell to the opposition in the 13th GE.

"Going by the response of the voters in the area, especially the Chinese, Perlis MCA is confident that any one of them (the candidates) are capable of wresting back Indera Kayangan," he told Bernama here today.

During the last general election, MCA candidate Dr Por Choo Chor who obtained 3,171 votes, was defeated by Chan Ming Kai from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) with 4,263 votes.

Khaw who is also the assemblyman for Titi Tinggi and the Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly said he was confident that the mission to regain Indera Kayangan would be made easier with the help of friends from UMNO and MIC.

"The current political situation also shows that the support from the Chinese community is getting stronger, and we are confident of correcting past mistakes and ensuring that MCA wins the Indera Kayangan state seat and retains Titi Tinggi," he said.

In Perlis, Barisan Nasional had won in three parliamentary constituencies, namely Arau, Kangar and Padang Besar , and 13 state seats.
