Kota Belud UMNO, BN Fully Support Najib's Leadership

KOTA BELUD, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- Kota UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) will continue to fully support the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to helm the administration and party at the federal level, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.

Salleh, who is Kota Belud UMNO Division chief, said his division would continue to support the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman at the state level.

He made the stand when declaring the unwavering support of Kota Belud UMNO and BN for the leadership of Najib and Musa to ensure political stability and the party's struggles for the people are continued.

"We (party members) should always uphold the principle of loyalty to the leader no matter in good or bad times. We must always work hard to ensure Sabah will continue to remain with UMNO and BN as the party's fixed deposit," he said.

Salleh, who is also UMNO treasurer, said this at the Kota Belud UMNO Division delegates conference, which was officiated by Musa, who is also state UMNO Liaison chairman here today.

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin, who is also state UMNO Liaison secretary and Local Government Minister as well as Sabah Housing Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor, who is also state UMNO treasurer.

Salleh said the unity among the leaders and members of Kota Belud UMNO division continued to be strong and they always practised the principle of cooperation in ensuring victory for the party in the coming 14th general elections.

He said the Kota Belud Umno division membership has grown from 29,000 in 2016 to more than 30,000 people this year, thus proving that Umno remains the party of choice of the people in the district.

Meanwhile Salleh said the people, particularly in Sabah should not hesitant to give their full support to UMNO and BN because the party clearly has the capacity to eradicate poverty and bring sustainable development for the well-being of the people in the state.

"The poverty rate in Sabah has shown a steady decline from year to year. In 2009, the poverty rate in Sabah is 19.7 per cent; in 2012 (8.1 per cent); in 2014 (4.0 per cent) and the rate fell further to 3.4 per cent last year," he said.

Hence, Salleh urged the people in the state to jointly give their undivided support to the present government so that the struggle to bring about changes and eradicate poverty could continue.
