Don't Abandon UMNO If Not Selected As Candidate - Johari
KUALA SELANGOR, Aug 5 (Bernama) --UMNO members should not abandon the party if they are not chosen by the top leadership to be candidates in the 14th general election, said the party's supreme council member Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
He said it would be impossible to offer all members to be candidates as only the best in the party would be picked to contest.
"In politics, we don't offer all the people to become calon (candidates). Only selected people in the party, the best we think, we put them as calon.
"We need to work with all Barisan Nasional component parties to ensure political stability in the country so that Malaysians can live in harmony," Johari told reporters after opening the Kuala Selangor Umno division delegates meeting here today.
Also present were Kuala Selangor Umno division chief Datuk Ishak Harun and Kuala Selangor MP Datuk Seri Irmohizam Ibrahim, who is also an Umno supreme council member.
Johari, who is also Second Finance minister, reminded UMNO members at all levels continue to serve the party with all their hearts, even if they were not selected as candidates.
