Work Hard To Win Wangsa Maju Parliament Seat
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 (Bernama) --UMNO members and the component parties of Barisan Nasional (BN) must work hard to ensure BN can wrest back the Wangsa Maju parliamentary seat from the opposition, said Federal Territory UMNO Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor. He said that he was always keeping up with developments in the Wangsa Maju constituency because it was among five parliamentary seats which BN must win back in the federal capital the 14th General Election (GE14). "BN must win at least five parliamentary seats in the Federal Territory. Two seats which are the main targets are Wangsa Maju and Lembah Pantai," he said when opening the Wangsa Maju UMNO Division delegates meeting here today. Tengku Adnan, however, did not mention the three other parliamentary seats targeted to be won by BN in GE14. The Wangsa Maju Parliamentary seat is now held by Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR). Tengku Adnan, who is also Federal Territories Minister, said development in the Federal Territory was carried out by BN and not the opposition. "For example, Wangsa Maju is developing due to the work of BN. The opposition cannot be depended on because they prefer empty talk and not do work, without BN definitely Wangsa Maju would have been left behind compared to other areas in the Federal Territory," he said. In GE13, BN only won two of the 11 parliamentary seats in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, namely, Titiwangsa and Setiawangsa while nine seats, Kepong, Batu, Wangsa Maju, Segambut, Bukit Bintang, Lembah Pantai, Seputeh, Cheras and Bandar Tun Razak went to the opposition. -- BERNAMA
