Santan Assemblyman Reiterates Support For BN

PADANG BESAR, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Santan State Assemblyman Datuk Sabry Ahmad says he will continue to work hard to ensure the Barisan Nasional (BN) win the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14) despite being dropped as state executive councillor.

He said he would now have more time to meet the people in his constituency, besides ensuring that the UMNO machinery there performed well once the GE was announced.

"When I was executive council member, I had to come to the office as early as 8am and return (home) at 5pm, and there were times (I had to be in office) until night, except on weekends.

"Now, I have more time to assist the people in my constituency," he told Bernama here today.

Last April, Sabry, 64, and Guar State Assemblyman Sanji Jafperi Othman were dropped by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man in the state executive council reshuffle.

"I will continue to work hard for the sake of the party and people. Whether I am selected to compete in GE14 or not, is not the main thing. Even if I am not picked, I will still support my successor," said Sabry, 64, who served as political secretary to former rural development minister Datuk Azmi Khalid from 2000 to 2004, and represented BN in Santan in the 2004, 2008 and 2013 general elections.
