UMNO On Right Track To Win GE14 -mahdzir

PORT DICKSON, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- UMNO is currently on the right track to win the coming general election and this can be measured in the solidarity showed by every member to the party leadership, said UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.

"I have been to many places and I notice we are actually on the right track to win the coming general election and I am confident we are the ones said to be dominating (political power) because political power cannot be traded.

"In general elections, there is no runner-up and that is why we have to win," he said when opening the Teluk Kemang UMNO divisional delegates conference here today.

Also present was Teluk Kemang UMNO Division chief and Jempol Member of Parliament Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad.

Mahdzir said Barisan Nasional (BN) is also the only party which could look after and defend the interest of all communities in the country.

"(Singapore first Prime Minister) Lee Kwan Yew in Singapore closed the Chinese, Tamil and Malay schools in 1964 and opened only the English medium schools. (Indonesia's first president) Bung Karno (Soekarno) created an Indonesian race and one language under the name, 'pancasila'.

"Thailand only has one language for its schools and also in the Philippines , but not us. If people say UMNO is racist, it is not right because the Chinese schools can still practice their mother tongue and those in Tamil schools can speak Tamil,? he said.

Meanwhile, Mukhriz said he hoped all UMNO members would continue to give their undivided support to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to enable him to continue with efforts to develop the country.

"I am confident under Najib's leadership, and supported by Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the nation's number two man, we will be able to boost the nation towards a better future because the direction of the struggle forthe race and nation is clear," he said.

Mahdzir said he was confident via the Najib-Zahid pair, UMNO and BN could achieve greater success in the coming general election.
