UMNO Members Told Not To Feel Small In Pursuing Party's Struggle

BATU PAHAT, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- UMNO members should change their perception by not feeling small in pursuing the party's struggle and to use their own approach in contributing for the party.

Johor UMNO Liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said many party members felt themselves 'small' and insignificant that their action would not affect the party.

"It is all because they are not division heads, divisional committee members, and are nobody in the party branch.

"So today, I want to correct this perception . It has to change because no matter who, where, what our positions are in the party, we have a duty a responsibility which is equally important with the party leadership," he said during the opening of the Parit Sulong UMNO delegates conference here today.

The conference was opened by UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Deputy Prime Minister.

Mohamed Khaled said the survival of the party, race and religion in the country is the responsibility of the Muslims and Malays.

As such, he call on UMNO members to work and do their part for the party in their own way.

"Those with money, contribute to the party fund, those with knowledge should give ideas , those with oratory skills, to speak for the party. Those who are free, to give their time and energy, be the party volunteers ," he added.

He also advised Johor UMNO machinery to work hard within the next six months to ensure a win for UMNO and Barisan Nasional in the 14th general election.

"We have to win with a huge impact and a convincing majority," he said.
