Don't Stir Up Racial Politics In UMNO - Ghapur

TAWAU, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- Kalabakan UMNO Division chief Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh has warned race based associations not to stir up racial politics in UMNO.

Abdul Ghapur, who is also Kalabakan Member of Parliament, said racial politics, if not curbed, would undermine solidarity in the party and the plural racial ties in Sabah.

"I would like to warn against stirring up racial sentiments because in UMNO, the struggles are solely for religion, race and country and not based on racism.

"In UMNO, there is no Bugis, no Javanese, no Bajau, only multi ethnic UMNO members but with one religion," he said when opening the Kalabakan UMNO Division delegates conference here today.

At the event, he also voiced his confidence in the presence of about 2,000 UMNO delegates attending the conference that 23 out of 25 Parliamentary seats in the state would still be won by BN candidates.
