UMNO Members Should Be Committed In Fighting For Party - Johari
BATU PAHAT, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- UMNO members should be committed in its struggle for the party by putting aside their personal interests and not expecting any post or reward, said an UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Johari Abd Ghani.
He said such an attitude by party members would not benefit UMNO and instead would weaken it in the long run.
"When we struggle for the party, we have to do it with full of patience and sincerity, and (at the same time) continue to work on correcting weaknesses? Not by leaving the party when there is no post and later rejoin it," he told reporters after opening the Sri Gading UMNO Division delegates conference here today.
Johari, who is also Second Finance Minister, said history showed that many UMNO members had left the party and set up other political parties when they could not see eye-to-eye or eyeing a post in the party.
"When this happens, UMNO will become weak. So, we need our members to be committed to ensure that this party can function well," he added.
