Changes In Kelantan Must Start With A Dream - DPM

JELI, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said a great deal of difference will take place in Kelantan if the people pick the right leaders to represent and lead them especially in taking their voices to a higher level.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, any change especially involving infrastructural and economic developments dreamt by Kelantan must start with a dream.

"I am confident and believe in Tok Pa (International Trade and Industry Ministry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed) who is dreaming of developing Jeli.

"I believe Tok Pa (who is also Kelantan UMNO Liaison Committee chairman) can not only develop Jeli, in fact, Kelantan if he and his colleagues get the support of all the people in the state," he said at a 'Leader with the People' event and the launching of Merdeka Rides organised by the Superbikes Association of Malaysia (SAM) at the Dataran Makan-Makan Jeli here tonight.

Also present were Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, Kelantan Federal Development Department director Yahaya Mamat and SAM president Datuk Abdul Halim Sulaiman.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also UMNO Vice President but carrying out the duties of Deputy President, said co-operation between Kelantan and Putrajaya was unavoidable currently and as such the federal government led by the Barisan Nasional (BN) had never marginalised Kelantan despite it being headed by the opposition.

"But because we (Putrajaya) care, substantial allocations have been given to Kelantan, we are not being thankful to Allah if we don't thank the giver.

"In such situations, we must know that something that happens doesn't just happen. There must be a cause to it...there must be push and pull factors," he said.

As such, he said he would often visit Kelantan to help Mustapa and Kelantan BN to return to power in the state.

Earlier, Ahmad Zahid was given a briefing on the expansion of the Muhammad I Mosque here before performing the Isyak prayers at the mosque.

The expansion of the mosque started in July last year and is expected to be completed by Ramadan next year, at a cost of RM1.2 million including the construction of a tower.

The mosque, which was built in 1982, had been renovated in 1996, 2002 and 2013.
