Selangor Mubarak To Help BN Draw Veteran Voters In GE14
SHAH ALAM, Sept 11 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Malaysian Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak) will go to the ground to help the Barisan Nasional (BN) machinery in the 14th general election by focusing on veteran voters in the state.
Its president, Tan Sri Abu Hassan Omar said the move was necessary in order to draw voters aged 50 years and above to vote for BN and let it continue ruling the country.
"We have placed our representatives in the state through the Parliamentary Consensus Council to explain the government's agenda as well as bring us closer to the targeted voters.
"Our target group are the veteran voters who make up about 30 per cent of voters in Selangor...the entire Mubarak committee and I will work hard to campaign for BN."
Abu Hassan said this to reporters, here, today after handing over a contribution of RM10,000 from Mubarak to the Sinar4Rohingya-Solidarity For Humanity Fund which was represented by Sinar Harian's editorial executive advisor Datuk Abdul Jalil Ali to provide aid for the Rohingya here and in Myanmar.
"We (UMNO veterans) have to remember the deeds...we used to be candidates (of the party) before, we always hoped for support from the top leadership and the grassroots, so as members we have enjoyed many benefits," he said.
