DAP's Accusation On Phantom Voters To Gain Sympathy - Saarani
IPOH, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- The claim by Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming that Barisan Nasional (BN) has brought in 56,323 phantom voters into the state is baseless and an attempt to gain sympathy from voters, said Perak BN deputy chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad.
He said Nga had raised the matter on phantom voters before the last general election.
"When they (opposition) lost, Nga brought up the matter and when we asked for evidence, until now they cannot produce it," he told a media conference here today.
He was commenting on a Twitter posting against BN by Nga last week.
Saarani said if the accusation by Nga was true, the Election Commission (EC) would have removed the names of the voters concerned from the electoral roll.
He believed the accusation by Nga was an attempt by the opposition to divert their worry over the more than 50 per cent increase in the number of Malay voters.
"Nga is now restless and wants to cover up a statement he used to make on Malay voters by using the issue on phantom voters and attack BN," he said.
