Do Not Expect Status Quo In GE14 - Noh Omar
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Selangor UMNO liaison chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar said Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties should not expect status quo in the allocation of seats to contest in the 14th General Election (GE-14).
"The BN component parties must have tolerance, do not contest to represent the race but must Represent all races in Malaysia.
"We (BN) have to abolish the status quo practised in the last general election. Now is the right time to make changes," he said when asked to comment on the closed-door meeting on GE14 with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also UMNO president and BN chairman at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here today.
Noh said Najib wanted BN component parties to be tolerant (seat allocation quota) and focus on ensuring BN a two-thirds majority win in GE14.
Sungai Besar Member of Parliament, Budiman Mohd Zohdi concurred with Noh on the prime minister's target of a BN two-thirds majority win in GE-14.
"The prime minister said a two-thirds majority win is important to BN. This is the target set for all BN component parties," he added.
Meanwhile, MyPPP president Tan Sri M. Kayveas said BN's preparation for GE14 was more systematic and better than GE13.
"MyPPP's general election machinery is more organised with Jalinan Rakyat Plus (JR Plus) which has a positive impact at grassroots level."
Penang BN chairman Teng Chang Yeow said GE14's preparation was smooth since the retreat at Institut Latihan Memperkasa UMNO (ILMU) in Janda Baik, Pahang, several months ago.
"We are only waiting for green light from the BN top leadership. This time, the BN preparation is different."
