Respect Top Leadership's Decision On Candidates For GE14 - Zahid

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties should respect the top leadership's decision in determining the choice of candidates for the coming 14th general election, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also BN deputy chairman, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and he would study every candidate proposed by the component parties, with the final decision to be made by Najib, who is BN chairman,

"It is better for the seats allocated for a party not be disturbed by the other parties although the intentions are good.

"We know that each party is given opportunities based on criteria but we need to respect others so that no party feels hurt," he said when asked to comment on the tussle for the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat between the People's Progressive Partry (MyPPP) and MIC, after the Home Ministry's monthly assembly, here, today.

MyPPP president, Tan Sri M. Kayveas had expressed hope of contesting the Cameron Highlands seat, which is now held by MIC former president, Datuk Seri G. Palanivel.

Yesterday, it was reported that Kavyeas wished to meet with MIC president, Datuk Seri S. Subramaniam to discuss the issue of candidate for the seat.
