Pakatan Harapan's Budget Not Logical, Not Like Govt's More Realistic Budget - Razif

KUALA NERUS, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- The people will hopefully not be influenced by the false and illogical promises made by Pakatan Harapan in their Alternative Budget which was announced yesterday.

Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said on the other hand, UMNO and the Barisan Nasional government only made promises which were realistic and could be kept.

"UMNO and BN is a responsible government with a lot of experience in drawing up a budget which will benefit everyone. We know what we can and cannot do.

"The people can see for themselves (the difference between the Pakatan Harapan and BN budgets). The government does not really want to impose the GST (Goods and Services Tax), but when the oil prices dropped, how did we in Terengganu cope, with reduced income from RM2.4 billion to RM1.2 billion."

"Similarly with the country, if we did not have the GST, with 85 percent of national revenue derived from petroleum which suffered a drastic drop in prices, how could the country manage with GST.

"UMNO and the BN government are always looking ahead even though the decisions we make are not beneficial to the government (not popular with the people) but we have to do it because of the global economic crisis," he said.

Ahmad Razif was speaking to reporters when asked to comment on the budget announced by Pakatan Harapan, which among others included the promise to abolish GST and toll charges as well as to provide free education.

He said Pakatan Harapan's budget was unrealistic, especially in the coming years which economists have predicted to suffer slow growth.
