Big Allocation For Sabah Shows Govt's Commitment To Develop State
KOTA BELUD, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- The big allocation for Sabah's development in 2018 Budget shows the government's concern in pursuing its aspiration to develop the state to ensure its progress is in tandem with other states in Malaysia.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the RM4.533 billion allocation for Sabah showed the Barisan Nasional federal government's belief that all these expenditures would be the catalyst for the state's economy to further prosper the people.
"That's the aspiration of the prime minister who wants Sabah to progress and develop as well as to ensure the effort to improve the standard of living of the people is given priority.
"This budget is very comprehensive as it not only gives priority to development in infrastructure but it also empowers human capital development," he said this when opening the Tamu Besar Kota Belud 2017 celebration at the Kota Belud Tapak Tamu Mingguan, here today.
Also present were Sabah Agriculture and Food Industry Assistant Minister Datuk Musbah Jamli who is also Tempasuk state assemblyman and Kota Belud district officer Abdul Gari Itam.
Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman said the Tamu Besar Kota Belud provided a platform for local businesses to market their products and further strengthen the spirit of unity and inter-racial harmony in the district.
"This is the opportunity for the Kota Belud community to promote local products especially in animal husbandry, agriculture and fishery products," he said.
Abdul Rahman, who is also Kota Belud Member of parliament, however, reminded traders to emphasise on quality to enable local products to be commercially viable and able to meet market needs thus reflecting the identity and uniqueness of the community in Kota Belud.
He added that following the inclusion of Tamu Besar celebration in Sabah annual tourism events, it should be continued to be promoted among both domestic and international tourists.
