Chinese Support For MCA Growing - Liow

IPOH, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- MCA believes the support of Chinese voters for the party is gaining strength following the overall transformation taking place since the last general election (GE13).

Its president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the transformation was made in stages coupled with the party's agenda and organisation, relations among its members and the role played by its Wanita and Youth wings.

He said the 2050 National Transformation (TN50) plan mooted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak also formed the essence in garnering the people's support for MCA.

"We are confident of more support but we need to be cautious and hold more gatherings with the Chinese community.

"With this approach, we can better understand the various matters desired by the Chinese community," he said after opening the 2017 Perak MCA Convention at Sultan Azlan Shah Allied Health Science College, here, today.

Liow said Chinese voters were advised not to believe in the arguments of opposition leaders, especially from the DAP, who were good only in rhetoric apart from using politics for personal interest.

He said there was no major achievement worth highlighting from DAP leaders' ideas and efforts since they formed part of government in Selangor and Penang.

"Penang under Lim Guan Eng has been facing environmental problems, traffic congestion...while the much talked about undersea tunnel has yet to be built," he said.
