UMNO's JR Strongest Tool To Empower Party - Shahrizat
JELI, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- The Jalinan Rakyat (JR) programme is among UMNO strongest tool in empowering the party and one that is feared by the opposition, said Wanita UMNO Chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
Shahrizat said JR's strength was in the consistent service given to the people by its more than 500,000 members throughout the country.
"JR is our strongest tool to be close to the people, that is why it scares the opposition. I do not want JR to bring negative influences into the party but to provide service to the people.
"In Kelantan too, I see the people's acceptance of JR has been very good,"she told reporters at the launching ceremony of the Kelantan-level 'JR dan JR' programme at the Jeli campus of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) here today.
She said JR had proven to be consistent and not 'touch-and-go' in providing aid to the needy.
The event which was launched by Kelantan UMNO Liaison Committee Chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed was also attended by Kelantan Wanita UMNO head Datin Rahimah Mahammad and more than 5,000 party members.
