GE14 Candidates Must Make Use Of Social Media - Budiman
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- UMNO members who have the potential to be selected as candidates in the 14th General Election (GE 14) should make effective and full use of social media said Sungai Besar Member of Parliament Budiman Mohd Zohdi.
He said the effectiveness of social media depended on momentum which must be maintained over time in order to gain more followers.
According to him, more UMNO leaders, whether they are at the top or grass root levels, must use social media more actively.
"During GE13 most candidates only started using the social media during the campaign period or several weeks before polling. But that was a rather brief period.
"The social media is important for candidates to introduce themselves and to inform netizens of their plans and visions and they should give two years before their posts become a trending topic," he said in a forum titled 'Role of cyber machinery in facing GE14' at the UMNO Social Media Convention here today.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister's press secretary Datuk Akmar Hisham Mokhles said the public had migrated to social media to get news and information.
"As such materials or campaign leaflets for GE14 must be prepared in proper format for all social media platforms," he said.
