KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- A total of 12 military camps are being planned to be set up or upgraded to provide more comfortable housing for military personnel nationwide.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the move was aimed at improving the level of preparedness of the military personnel in accordance with the new national security and defence landscape.

"The plan to set up and upgrade the camps is a continuous effort, it cannot be done in the blink of an eye and the construction must be in accordance with the plans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM)."

"The ministry and ATM will monitor closely the construction of the camps to ensure that it will be on schedules and according to the stipulated standards," he said when winding-up the debate on the Supply Bill 2018 at the policy level for his ministry at the Dewan Rakyat today.

Hishammuddin however did not specify any locations for the project or the costs involved.
