GE14: Gerakan Confident Of Winning Five Parliamentary Seats

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- The Gerakan is confident it has a bright chance of winning at least five parliamentary seats and 12 state seats at the 14th General Election (GE14).
Its president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong said the confidence was based on a study conducted by the party which found a positive development in the sentiment of Chinese voters at the grassroot level nationwide towards the national leadership.
"The support of the Chinese community towards Barisan Nasional has come back to us, namely, it has risen currently to 30 per cent from 15 per cent in the 13th General Election.
"This support is due to Gerakan being more organised and stronger. We also have played an important role especially in bringing up people-related issues. I am confident the voters will give us a chance and the party target can be achieved," he said.
He said this to reporters after opening the annual general meeting of the 2017 Gerakan Life Members Council at the Gerakan Building in Pudu here today.
In the GE13, Gerakan only won one parliamentary seat and three state seats before adding another parliamentary seat in Teluk Intan via a by-election in 2014.
