Johor Budget To Benefit Target Groups Including Single Mothers
JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- The Johor State Budget 2018 which will be tabled on Nov 23 is expected to benefit target groups such as single mothers, low-income groups and people with disabilities.
State Women, Family and Community Development Committee chairman Asiah Md Ariff said under its portfolio there were some touch points to be announced by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin at the budget presentation.
"The Johor government will provide assistance to the target groups, especially single mothers with low incomes and people with disabilities so that they know the state government has always given priority to them," she told Bernama after officiating the Johor State Social Welfare Council Family Day Celebration (MKMNJ) here today.
Asiya said the state government at the same time was also committed to empowering women in addition to recognising the contributions of these groups.
On the MKMNJ family day celebration, Asiah said it was seen to achieve the state government's aspiration to implement programmes capable of strengthening unity.
Twenty-five non-governmental organisations and volunteers including the Society of the Deaf Johor participated in the family day which was celebrated with various events including fun run and telematch.
She said the state government had allocated RM1.5 million to volunteer bodies in Johor to implement programmes such as family day celebrations.
