Kit Siang Should Make Clear Stand On Bugis Issue - Salleh

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- DAP veteran leader Lim Kit Siang has to make his stand clear on the recent furore pertaining to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's insult against the Bugis ethnic group, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak.
Salleh said Kit Siang's silence would otherwise be viewed as tacit support of what Mahathir said and may be interpreted as using the former prime minister as a weapon to fight the Malays, as said by DAP's Hew Kuan Yew.
"If Kit Siang wants to be taken seriously as Pakatan's Prime Minister-in-waiting he cannot remain silent and continue to hide behind his Malay proxy," said Salleh in his latest blog post today.
The UMNO treasurer said Kit Siang was usually very quick to issue a statement calling such political tactics as racial, especially when he is the target of such attack.
"This time Kit Siang is strangely silent regarding Mahathir's attack on the Bugis race despite all the requests made for him to clarify his position as the de facto Pakatan leader," he said.
