Cast Off Perception Gerakan Merely UMNO's 'Yes-man' - Delegate
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 (Bernama) --Gerakan must deal with, and cast off the perception in the Chinese community that it is merely a 'yes-man' to UMNO, says a party representative.
Terengganu Gerakan delegate Lua Yik Hor said the matter should be addressed to win back the Chinese community's support for the Barisan Nasional (BN) component party.
He said the DAP had manipulated the perception to confuse and influence Chinese voters.
"Many Chinese consider that DAP is the dominant party in Pakatan Harapan, and that in BN, Gerakan merely follows UMNO's orders.
"This perception must be eliminated," he said during a debate session at the 46th Gerakan National Delegates Conference in Menara PGRM here today.
According to Lua, efforts should also be made to expose the DAP's shortcomings.
Meanwhile, Cameron Highlands delegate Dr Eddie Edwards suggested that modern technology be used to optimise the sustainability of agricultural activities in the area to help raise the standard of living of the local community there.
The delegates conference resumes tomorrow.
