Indians In Terengganu Show Increase In Support For BN - Ahmad Razif





KEMAMAN, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- The Indian community in Terengganu has shown a sharp increase in support for the Barisan Nasional (BN) as compared to the 13th General Election.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said the support was a result of strong efforts by one of BN's component parties, MIC, which had never ceased to carry out various programmes to help the Indian community in the state.

"Previously, the Indian community in the state was also affected by various false information disseminated through social media."

"However, with the manner in which the information dissemination efforts were being carried out, the Indian community here understood what was really happening, and I am confident that BN will continue to maintain power, both at the federal and Terengganu levels with a two-third majority," he said after the presentation of Deepavali special funds to 140 recipients in the Lembah Jabor here Monday.

Also present were Terengganu MIC chairman Dr Dayal Krishnan and Kemaman MIC division chief, S. Siva Kumar.

"For this year, the state government has allocated about RM89,000 in Deepavali special funds to 244 Indians, including single mothers, senior citizens and people with disabilities, and will continue to assist, especially in three key areas, namely to address the rising cost of living, employment and housing," said Ahmad Razif.
