Perak Police To Deploy 9,000 Personnel For GE14
IPOH, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- A total of 8,900 Perak police officers and personnel will be deployed for the 14th General Election (GE14), said Perak Police chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan.
He said 500 of them would be Police Volunteer Reserve personnel who would help the regular police to ensure peace and security throughout the election process.
Preparations were 95 per cent complete, including undergoing five phases of training, as GE14 could be held at any time, he said.
"We have just completed the first phase of training for the election, and will undergo the second phase soon, and it will repeatedly be held until the election date is set.
"The purpose of conducting this training is to identify and improve our preparation for the election, so that the management, logistics and telecommunications systems are sufficient and in good order," he told reporters after the Perak Police monthly assembly here today.
Hasnan also said that a total of 46 police officers and personnel were arrested in the first nine months of the year for various offences.
He said this was a 24.6 per cent reduction from the same period last year, which saw 61 arrests.
"We take this matter very seriously, and will not compromise with any officer or personnel. Strict action will be imposed on those found guilty," he added.
