Parliament: Opposition's Proposals Politically Motivated, Not Helpful To EC - Razali
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- Most of the proposals raised by the opposition leaders are more politically motivated rather than trying to improve on ways to conduct the electoral process by the Election Commission (EC), said deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Razali Ibrahim.
He said the EC as a neutral body does not act in accordance to the wishes of any party seen to be more concerned in their own political interests.
"We cannot just break the rules because they are not in our favour. The EC can do whatever it takes, but as long as the rules are not in their (opposition) favour, they will still find fault," he said when winding up speech on the Supply Bill 2018 at the committee level at Dewan Rakyat, here today.
The Muar member of parliament was responding to a comment from Fuziah Salleh (PKR-Kuantan) on the early ballot boxes being stored at the police lock-up.
Razali stressed that according to regulations the general public cannot wantonly enter the police lock-up.
