Kelantan Tables Deficit Budget For 2018
KOTA BHARU, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan State Government has tabled its Budget 2018 with an estimated deficit of RM41.74 million compared to RM42.65 million for 2017.
In tabling the budget, themed 'A Tranquil Kelantan For Islam', Kelantan Menteri Besar, Datuk Ahmad Yakob, said the state had targetted a revenue of RM696.90 million.
"However, administrative expenditure in 2018 is expected to increase by RM59.01 million to RM738.64 million compared to RM679.63 million in 2017," he said at the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly here today.
Ahmad, who was also the State Public Administration, Economic Planning, Investment and Finance Committee Chairman, said the state would provide RM222.14 million out of the RM312.14 million that has been allocated for development,
"The balance of RM90 million will be financed through borrowings," he said.
He said the state expected to earn RM182.88 million in tax revenue, RM355.58 million in non-tax revenue, and RM158.44 million from other sources of income.
"This represents a revenue increase of RM59.92 million, or 9.41 per cent, in 2018, compared to the RM636.98 million estimated revenue for 2017," he said.
Meanwhile, Ahmad said, forest revenue had declined by RM37 million to RM140.20 million, or 20.12 per cent, compared to RM177.20 million estimated for 2017.
He said mining revenue in 2018 was expected to decline by RM4 million, or 5.71 per cent, to RM66 million compared to RM70 million estimated in 2017, adding that water revenue in 2018 was also expected to dip by RM2.24 million or 17.23 per cent compared to RM13 million estimated for this year.
Ahmad also declared special relief aid of RM1,500 for the civil servants in the state, adding that this would be disbursed in stages in 2018.
