Committee To Focus On Rights Of Sabah, Not Semantic Aspects Of MA63
KOTA KINABALU, Nov 21 (Bernama) --The Committee to Study the Rights of Sabah in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) is focusing more on returning what is rightfully belongs to Sabah rather than discussing the semantic aspects of the language used in the agreement and related documents.
State Special Tasks Minister Datuk Teo Chee Kang said the committee was now in the midst of scrutinising the content of the important documents relating to the rights of Sabah to ensure that it would remain protected.
"We (Sabah) have the power to make our own laws in certain sectors in the state as stated in the Federal Constitution. Apart from that, Sabah also has rights to revenue and financial allocation.
"It was stated in the Federal Constitution and it proved that the status of Sabah and Sarawak differed from other states in the peninsula. This fact cannot be disputed," he said in reply to Datuk Lajim Ukin (Harapan Rakyat-Klias) at the State Assembly sitting here today.
