Johor Govt Gives Special Aid To Civil Servants
ISKANDAR PUTERI, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- Johor and federal civil servants here will receive a special
financial aid of half month salary from the state government, with a minimum pay out of RM1,500, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
The aid which will be given out in January will also be for the Johor State Executive Council members, State Assembly members, the Johor Council of Royal Court members, the Johor State Public Services Commission, Community Rehabilitation Centre (PDK) trainees and Johor Islamic kindergarten teachers.
"Those earning less than RM3,000 a month will get more than a half month salary," he said when tabling the Johor Budget 2018 at the Johor State Assembly in Kota Iskandar, here today.
The state government has also agreed to introduce the Special Retirement Aid of RM1,000 for retirees of the Johor Civil Service, beginning 2018.
Mohamed Khaled said as a token of appreciation for former state assemblymen, the state government will raise their pension to 60 per cent of their allowance, based on the duration of service, to be on par with the pension for members of parliament.
"Civil servants who have retired are also not forgotten as they have contributed much to the Johor government. These special aid and incentives are tokens of appreciation from the Johor government.
Mohamed Khaled also announced the Johor government will introduce the Hospitalisation and Surgery Takaful Programme and the Johor Civil Servants Personal Accident Programme, in addition to the existing medical facilities.
With the new initiative, the state government will subsidise half the month payment of their medical cards which will qualify state civil servants and family members to specialist medical treatment at KPJ hospitals, amounting to RM60,000 a year.
He added the schemes would also provide coverage up to RM220,000 for accident cases resulting in death and permanent disability.
"For next year, RM6.21 million will be allocated for this incentive, for the benefit of 10,184 Johor civil servants. The state government is urging local authorities, statutory bodies and government-linked companies to do the same for their staff, using their own funds."
