GE14: Chinese Support In Kemaman Shifting Back To BN
KEMAMAN, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- The Chinese community in Kemaman will shift its support back to Barisan Nasional (BN) in the coming general election (GE) after witnessing BN's sincerity and concern over their plight since GE13.
State Infrastructure, Public Utilities, Energy and Green Technology Committee chairman, Rosli Othman said the support was declared by the chairmen and leaders of 27 Chinese associations and clubs at a friendly gathering held, here, last night.
"Nearly 3,000 people from the Chinese community attended the event to show their support for the state BN leadership where they stated they would support Terengganu BN in the coming elections because they now realised which party was more concerned about them and would come to their aid when in trouble.
"We hope this support will continue until the GE14 and be translated through the ballot papers as BN will continue to ensure the well-being of the Chinese community in Kemaman," he told reporters after officiating at the event at the Kemaman Chinese Community Hall.
At the event, Rosli also announced an allocation of RM100,000 from the state government to repair and upgrade the facilities at the hall.
Meanwhile, the event's organising chairman, Datuk Soh Kok Hiang said it was BN which provided the most assistance to the Chinese community in Kemaman and when there were problems like floods, BN would be the first to come down to see to their needs.
Kemaman Club Association honorary chairman, Datuk Alex Siaw Teck Hwa said Terengganu BN had never denied the Chinese community anything and had always taken care of their welfare even though they were a minority in the state.
