Voters Will Determine My Contesting GE14, Says Pahang MB

KUANTAN, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- Pahang Menteri Besar Daruk Seri Adnan Yaakob said today voters in his constituency would determine whether he would contest in the next general election.

Adnan, who is the assemblyman for Simpang Pelangai, said this did not mean that he was 'tired'. He said he had gone through thick and thin in his political career of 31 years, of which 19 years had been as the menteri besar.

"If the PM (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) says he wants me to contest, I will check with my voters - if they want me to, I will contest.

"But if the PM says he does not want me to contest and if the voters want me to, I will say that the voters still want me to contest," he said at the Pahang legislative assembly sitting at Wisma Sri Pahang here.

Adnan spoke during an intervention when State Basic Amenities and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Soffi Abdul Razak was winding up debate. Mohd Soffi expressed his support for Adnan to contest the 14th General Election.

However, Adnan replied by saying it would be good also if he did not contest so as to pave the way for someone else to become the menteri besar.
