FT UMNO Youth Ready For GE14

LABUAN, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- Federal Territories UMNO Youth is in the election mood and ready to face the 14th general election (GE14) with a fresh and positive mentality to help ensure the core issues plaguing the people are resolved.

Its vice-chief, Datuk Mohd Rafi Alli Hassan said the party's central leadership had come up with a number of initiatives and systems to identify the GE14 preparation's weaknesses and readiness.

"We must admit that a number of issues especially in the three federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan have been and will be resolved through various programmes and development projects, as well as the initiatives outlined in Budget 2018.

"But there are still issues that need the central leadership's immediate attention for solutions, such as the rising cost of living," he said to Bernama in an interview in conjunction with the UMNO General Assembly 2017, set for Dec 5 to 9.

He noted that the general assembly would focus on the readiness on the party machinery in facing GE14 with all the leaders and members gearing towards strengthening unity and reaching consensus.

"As everybody is hoping, this general assembly, which is the last before the next general election will radiate a feel good factor and winning mentality among the delegates," he said.

Rafi, who is also the political secretary to the Federal Territories Minister, said to ensure smooth preparations, all leaders and members had been reminded to put aside their personal agenda and work as a team to ensure victory for the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates.

He said to ease the people's financial burden, especially the jobless youths', the UMNO Youth wing in the federal territories was now focusing on making people have a clear understanding of the importance of retaining the ruling BN government.

"After carrying out various people-oriented programmes, we have seen increasing support not only from Malays but also from the Chinese community," he said.
