Maintain Unity, Winning Mentality Among Najib's Reminder - Shahrizat

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has emphasised on solidarity and the importance of UMNO members to have a winning mentality in facing the 14th General Election (GE14), according to Wanita UMNO chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

She said Najib, who is also UMNO president, had put high expectations on the Wanita UMNO election machinery to become the representative for the party at the grassroots level in order to win the hearts of the people.

These were among the matters raised by Najib at the president's briefing in conjunction with the 2017 UMNO General Assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here today.

"His speech has lifted the spirits of all delegates. The president said the Barisan Nasional (BN) products are the good ones, and that we are responsible in determining the future, especially the young people, as the responsibility lies on our shoulders," she told reporters after attending the briefing held on the first day of the party's annual gathering.

Najib is scheduled to open the UMNO general assembly on Thursday.

Shahrizat said Najib also reminded all delegates that GE14 is everything, and urged all UMNO members to maintain unity and solidarity among each other.

"We are ready to take any challenge being faced by the party president in facing GE14."

"Our main concern is to ensure that our (election) machinery is in order, and that all of us are ready and have that winning mentality," she said.

Meanwhile, Puteri UMNO chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin described the important message by Najib as the basis to the general assembly and should be taken seriously by all leaders and members of the party as preparations in facing GE14.

"Among the gist of the briefing are on the party's unity and preparedness in continuing its work. Datuk Seri (Najib) also mentioned that the winning mentality should be embedded in every member of the party," she said.
