Focus On Unity, Set Aside Question Of Candidates In GE14 - Sabah UMNO Youth
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- Sabah UMNO members need to take heed of the call by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for party members to be strongly united and not to think too much of the question of candidates for the upcoming 14th general election.
Its Youth chief, Yamani Hafez Musa said this was important to ensure total focus on preparing for the elections which would be held soon.
"The selection of candidates should not be a priority, instead we need to work hard together to ensure victory for the Barisan Nasional candidates fielded."
Yamani said this after the simultaneous opening of the Wanita, Youth and Puteri UMNO assemblies by Ahmad Zahid, who is party vice-president carrying out the duties of deputy president, at Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre, here, tonight.
Yamani also called on Sabah UMNO Youth members to avoid any conflict among them as it could affect the strength of their election machinery.
"If there is any rift, it should be quickly resolved as we do not want to waste time on internal squabbling which could derail our preparations for the upcoming general election," he said, adding that Sabah would remain as Barisan Nasional's stronghold.
