Victory Of UMNO, BN Guarantees Bright Future For People, Nation
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- Armed with an indisputable track record of success in governing the country, Barisan Nasional (BN) under the leadership of UMNO is able to guarantee a better future for the benefit of the people if they vote for it in the next general election.
Speaking at the opening of the UMNO General Assembly 2017, party president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the UMNO and BN-led government wanted to uphold Malaysia, not just being a champion in the region but also listed as the top 20 countries in the world.
He said the people had the choice of whether to be with the government in achieving the progressive agenda or to choose the opposition which was full of cronyism and despotism.
"Whether heading towards the light at the end of the road, which is brighter, under the leadership of UMNO and Barisan Nasional, which proved to be progressive, full of indisputable performance records.
"Or,...the gloomy path under the grip of DAP Dynasty, groping without direction, full of deceit and eventually will only drag us back to ancient and old times, with the practice of cronyism and despotism," he said in front of the red sea of 5,628 delegates from the 191 UMNO divisions nationwide.
Najib, who is also Prime Minister, said UMNO and BN had been the party and coalition for all which had been promoting diversity in the country as well as harmonious living, mutual dependency and complementing each other.
He also stressed that UMNO was not a racist party and in fact, it was accepted to lead other multiracial BN component parties since many years ago.
UMNO is not anti-Chinese but it is obvious that the Chinese, and some of the Indians, have also been dragged and trapped as the victims of perception and lies (by the) opposition.
UMNO is not only for the Malays, not even just to lead the BN- UMNO is ultimately the party for all Malaysians, Najib said.
He said after being around for over seven decades, UMNO had become more mature and had been adopting healthy politics with inclination towards a non-confrontational approach, let alone behaving like troublemakers or to disgrace the opponents to the extent of resorting to character assassination.
Ironically, Najib said the opposition, which was supposed to champion the plight of the people, was only busy with all the dramas and could not even resolve their internal crisis but at the same time wanting to take over the country's administration.
Najib said the DAP had been ruled for the past 50 years by an adviser and the father-son dynasty while PPBM failed to manage the party's meeting affairs.
"The hibiscus party, sad to say, we do not see the value it is trying to promote. They said they wanted to fight for the Malays and Islam but were conspiring and being used as a tool by the DAP, which is clearly anti-Malay and Islam. The DAP constitution did not mention Islam as the federal religion at all, their aim is to make the country fully secular," he added.
He said PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was conspiring with his decades-long 'political and principal enemies' just to fulfil his personal and family interests.
Hence, Najib reminded the people to make the right choice to ensure that what had been built over the years would not be ruined, destroyed and shattered.
He said if the choice was wrong, Islam would be belittled and insulted, the position of the institution of Malay rulers would no longer be glorified and the objectives of Malay Bumiputera institutions such as MARA, FELDA, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Tabung Haji would be thwarted if the opposition came to power. The UMNO president subsequently signalled the commencement of preparation to achieve party's victory in the GE14 which had been regarded as the mother of all general elections .
In order to achieve this, all UMNO leaders and members must move as a team with full confidence; act swiftly; solve any challenge through discussion and family; and fight in the digital world as cyber warriors, he said.
Najib also wanted them to fight in high spirit and have the determination in their struggle; give all out; work and plan to the best of their abilities; and to leave everything to the Almighty.
He reminded the party's three wings, namely Wanita, Youth and Puteri to mobilise their election machinery and go to the ground and storm into the enemy's fortress as well as to win the hearts of the people.
Do move with a winning mentality without having the fear and dread. Do not have doubts anymore. Have faith that we are on the right path of struggle and blessed (by God), he said followed by thunderous applause from the audience at Dewan Merdeka.
