UMNO Members Urged To Set Aside Personal Interests
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- UMNO members are urged to set aside all personal sentiments in answering the call by party president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for all party members to get ready for the upcoming 14th general election.
Batu Sapi UMNO division chief, Datuk Shamsuddin Yahya said the policy speech by the party president when opening the 2017 UMNO General Assembly yesterday, should serve as a reminder for all members to strengthen unity to achieve victory in the general election.
He said loyalty required the party members to also follow all instructions given in operating their respective election machinery in facing the challenges posed by the opposition," he told Bernama when met at the general assembly, here, today.
"The UMNO president had also asked us to be steadfast in our struggle for the party, besides bolstering unity and remaining loyal to ensure victory in the elections which will be held any time.
"We should discard personal sentiments as what is more important is the party's and not personal victory," he said.
Shamsuddin, who is also Sekong assemblyman, called on UMNO members, particularly those in Sabah to be united to ensure the state remains in Barisan Nasional's hands.
