Batu Sapi Wanita UMNO Wants 30 Per Cent Women Candidates In Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- The Batu Sapi Wanita UMNO movement wants 30 per cent of candidates who would be selected for the 14th general election in Sabah to be women.

Its leader, Rahimah Asrah, said she believed that such a move could help boost the spirit of the movement in Sabah.

"We hope the party leadership in the state, as well as at national level, can consider the request by not only maintaining the existing women elected representatives, but also having more women with potential to stand as candidates," she said when met by Bernama at the UMNO general assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here today.

She said by having more women candidates, it would prove that the promise by the BN government to have more women holding key posts, including in politics, were not rhetoric.
