DKKP Issue Should Not Be Politicised - Ahmad Razif
KUALA TERENGGANU, Dec 14 (Bernama) -- The Federal Government Special Fund (DKKP) issue should no longer be politicised by the opposition as the Barisan Nasional (BN) government has long resolved the matter.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said the issue had always been raised in every Terengganu State Legislative Assembly sitting despite the fact that many clarifications were made to the opposition.
"Although it has been done hundreds of times, thousands of times, they still refuse to understand, so today I want to explain ... let this be the last, for all to understand. When the issue is raised out there, the people are no longer confused because they understand clearly regarding this DKKP issue.
"First of all, we admit that there are projects using the state government funds such as the state-owned housing programme which was at RM771.344 million, special federal government funds of RM717.300 million, road construction from Simpang Pulai-Lojing-Gua Musang, (package 6A) from Aring to Kelantan-Terengganu border worth RM197.610 million.
"Furthermore, there are the Gong Kedak RMAF housing project (RM35 million), University Darul Iman's management expenses (RM22.4 million), acquisition of 100 acres of land for ADTEC High Tech Training Centre (RM21.344 million), Pulau Redang land compensation (RM4 .907 million) and upgrading works of the Sultan Mahmud Airport (RM400 million), totalling RM2.169 billion," he said.
He said this in his reply to several questions from opposition representatives concerning the DKKP in the winding-up session of the Terengganu State Legislative Assembly today.
Ahmad Razif said the DKKP amounting RM2.169 billion had been paid to the Terengganu state government in stages beginning in 2011 and it would be completed in 2020.
He said RM200 million was paid in 2011, 2012 (RM200 million), 2013 (RM220 million) and the same amount were paid up to 2019, and the last payment of RM229 million was scheduled to be paid in 2020.
He also commented on the dropping of a suit filed by the state government against Petronas that was initiated by state government under PAS that time, which was raised by Mohd Wahid Endut (PAS- Wakaf Mempelam).
"The suit was for the Petronas to make oil royalty payment from Sept 1, 2000, and in the future as provided for under the agreement. As this matter has been implemented, on March 21, 2012, the Terengganu state government has withdrawn the suit. It is not a betrayal," he said.
He added that good relations with Petronas had benefited the people as the company agreed to assist the state government through their corporate social responsibility programmes in Terengganu.
