Kedahans Urged To Make Wise Choice At General Election

ALOR SETAR, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah has advised the people of the state to evaluate what the government has done and not listen to the 'empty talk' of the opposition which he said always opposed government policies and programmes.

He said the government had done a lot for the people, including implementing projects that created job opportunities such as the Kulim Hi-Tech Park and the expansion of the Customs, Immigration, Quarantine and Security Complex at Bukit Kayu Hitam.

"The government also provided school uniforms in cooperation with corporate bodies and also provided assistance during floods, storms and fires," he said at the 'Back to School' programme of Tenaga Nasional Berhad in the Alor Setar parliamentary constituency, at Sekolah Kebangsaan Mergong here today. Also present was TNB Kedah general manager (customer service) Ismail Lathifi Teh.

Some 200 pupils in the constituency received school aid, such as uniforms, stationery, shoes and bags donated by TNB to ease the financial burden of the parents.

Ahmad Bashah urged the people to continue to support the existing government to help realise the goal of the country becoming a developed nation by 2020.

"They (the opposition) come once in five years and make all kinds of promises while we (UMNO and BN) undertake implementation. Do not fell the tree that gives shade because we are not sure whether the new tree can grow to give shade...the wrong choice will cost us the future of the generations to come," he said.
