Distribution Of Melaka Parliamentary Seats Among Opposition Parties Flawed - Idris

MELAKA, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- The distribution of parliamentary seats Melaka among opposition component parties for the 14th General Election (GE14) is flawed as it fails to take into account various critical factors, especially rivalry among them and people's support, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron.

He said there was nothing extraordinary or special about the division of the six parliamentary seats in the state, but the division would make the opposition a weak alliance in the GE14.

"The competition among the opposition will certainly weaken them and will benefit the Barisan Nasional," he told a press conference after chairing the weekly State Executive Council meeting here today.

Last Monday, the opposition announced the distribution of seats among their component parties where PPBM would contest the parliamentary seats of Masjid Tanah and Alor Gajah; PKR the Tangga Batu and Bukit Katil seats; DAP the Kota Melaka seat and Amanah the Jasin seat.
