UMNO Confident In Winning With A Big Majority At Sulabayan
SEMPORNA, Jan 15 (Bernama) --- Barisan Nasional, that is spearheaded by UMNO, is confident that it is capable of retaining its Sulabayan state assembly seat in Semporna in the 14th General Election (GE14), with a bigger majority vote.
Special officer at the Sulabayan Community Development Leader Unit, Mohd Yakin Jalling said the residents in the Sulabayan state constituency were positive-minded and looked forward to a better future with the government. They were appreciative of the government's consistent efforts in helping to protect their welfare.
"Recently, six school halls worth RM200,000 each were built using last year's state constituency allocation," he told reporters here today.
Sulabayan assemblyman Datuk Jaujan Sambakong has held the state constituency seat which was won under the UMNO ticket but he had left UMNO in June 2016 and was currently with Parti Warisan Sabah headed by Semporna Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
Mohd Yakin also reminded all parties to not underestimate the government's efforts to bring development to Sulabayan through the construction of various facilities.
Among the development initiatives that would be carried out in stages at Pulau Bum-Bum are its transformation into a sub-district of Semporna as well as the set up of a mini Rural Transformation Centre that would boost the socio-economic activities of the residents.
