DAP Dominates Opposition Pact - Annuar Musa

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- UMNO Information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa today said that DAP is actually the party that dominates and holds the largest power in the four-party opposition pact led by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Annuar said this was evident in the distribution of the 165 parliamentary seats that would be contested by the opposition in the 14th general election (GE14).

He said even though DAP was only allocated 35 seats compared to PPBM (52) and PKR (51), 30 of the 35 seats were DAP's current seats and also its strongholds.

"By telling the people that it only got 35 seats, DAP is implying that the pact is led by Dr Mahathir and not by the party (DAP).

"According to our analysis, Sabah DAP may contest in nine, 10 or 11 seats. In Sarawak, the party already has three to five seats and if it contests for another seven or eight seats, plus the Sabah seats, it may actually contest for 50 seats in total.

"But it (DAP) has to hide this fact because it wants to dismiss the allegation that the opposition pact is actually led by DAP," Annuar said on the 'Anda Tanya Kita Jawab' live talk show over www.umno-online.my today.

He said the opposition's proposed candidates for prime minister and deputy prime minister if they triumph in the GE14 clearly showed that PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had been left out.

Meanwhile, Annuar said the Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto for GE14 was expected to be unique and the largest ever launched.

He said in contrast with the previous leader, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had taken into account the views and feedback from all parties in drafting the manifesto.

"He gathers all views and suggestions, and he is still on it. PM Najib is ready to make bigger changes. This is a new beginning," he said.
